About Us

Gilgai Farm is a boutique breeding farm in Nagambie – the heart of the thoroughbred breeding industry in Victoria. Situated 1 hour and 30 minutes north of Melbourne, the area enjoys good climate and rich river flat soil making it the perfect environment for breeding and rearing thoroughbreds. Gilgai Farm has bred and raced many successful thoroughbreds and is the proud owner of broodmare Helsinge. Mother to Black Caviar – the unbeaten champion mare, All Too Hard the multiple group 1 winner and first season sire, owned by Vinery Stud NSW. Belle Couture, the Redoute’s Choice filly sold at Sydney Easter yearling sale in 2012 for a record $2.6 million. The most recently sold sibling,
a colt by Redoute’s Choice, who made an Australasian record price of $5M, when sold again at the Sydney Easter yearling sale in April 2013.
At home resides the full sister to Black Caviar, a filly by Bel Esprit born in October 2012 and on the 18th of October 2013 a full sister to
All Too Hard was born.
