Sunday 3rd of September saw the who’s who of the Australian Racing industry on hand to celebrate the Victorian Racing industry awards at Peninsula, Docklands.
Whilst Craig Williams captured his 5th Scobie Breasley Medal, Rick Jamieson’s Gilgai Farm also collected it’s 5th Victorian Thoroughbred Breeder of the year title.
Jamieson was on hand to collect the award for the amazing achievements of his small Nagambie based property.
Well noted in industry circles for punching well above it’s weight, with the remarkable 1 in 10 to the track being a Group 1 winner’s, Rick light heartedly reflected his success comes from his “Magic Grass”, at Gilgai.
That “Magic Grass”, gave rise to another incredible group of racehorses in season 2016-2017, highlights included;
Jameka (ex. Mine Game), winning Australia’s only 2 Gr.1 races at 2400m, the Caulfield Cup and the BMW stakes.
Lucky Bubbles (ex. Bubble Below) winning and runner up in Hong Kong’s 2 premier international Sprints, the Chairman’s Sprint Prize and the Longines Hong Kong Sprint.
The Quarterback (ex. Soorena) winning the Gr.2 Gilgai Stakes &
Supido (ex. Lady Succeed) winning the Gr. 3 John Monash Stakes and placing in the Gr.2 Challenge Stakes.
