The Gilgai draft also included a Fastnet Rock Colt out of the Ottawa Stakes winner She’s Got Gears who was purchased by trainer Mick Price for $340,000.
Catalogued as Lot 240, the colt is the second (live) foal out of She’s Got Gears.
“I thought that he would go for a little less than $340,000, but I think Tony McEvoy was underbidder.”
“He’s very much like his father Fastnet Rock and Fastnet Rock himself was unloved as a yearling and I remember him at Sydney Easter with his big plainish head and I think this horse was pretty similar.”
“He’s a good mover and a lovely big strong colt.”
Price said Gilgai Farm’s record of producing Group One horses on a consistent basis was another deciding factor in buying the colt.
“I love the farm, Gilgai, what more can I say. The Quarterback, Jameka, Black Caviar, it’s an unbelievable farm.”
